For his first appearance under the baton of Jaap van Zweden, Daniel Hope has chosen a true masterpiece: Edward Elgar’s monumental Violin Concerto – a work deeply intertwined with the legacy of his mentor Yehudi Menuhin, who performed it as a child and even recorded it under the composer’s own direction. This inaugural major programme of the Menuhin Festival Orchestra, which also features Beethoven’s timeless Fifth Symphony, will be showcased on tour in some of Germany’s most prestigious concert halls, culminating in Copenhagen. It stands as a powerful testament to the artistic radiance of the Festival under its new leadership.
