Early in his career, Daniil Trifonov was hailed for his astonishing technical brilliance. Today, he has transformed from a prodigious virtuoso into a unique and versatile artist. His latest recital programme beautifully reflects this journey: Timeless Chopin waltzes set the stage, drawing us into the magical realms of Tchaikovsky’s ballets, brilliantly transcribed for piano by Mikhail Pletnev. This is music filled with yearning: Chopin’s grief for a lost Poland, and Tchaikovsky’s nostalgia for childhood innocence.
